About

Greetings, my name is Shane Tobar. I’m currently attending BCC and I plan to attend to a different college in hopes of becoming a game designer. Until then, enjoy my work of concepts for each of my games. In this page, you can view the genres for each of these games, scrapped ideas, etc.

WHEN DID THE IDEAS SPARK UP?

Project Toy

The last idea to come up out of the 5, it was originally doodles of a young boy and girl during 11th grade, and has since evolved into Toi and Dolli for the soon Project Toy, later came up between the middle to last of 11th grade.

Project Element

The very first idea out of the 5, it sparked up in 7th grade, with many inspiration taken from Pokemon. It was originally going to become a comic series.

Project Toon

The second idea to spark up. The designs for Jack and another character was based of of Sora and Riku from Kingdom Hearts, and was drawn in a short comic, depicting them in a stressful and boring school life. The comic was drawn during the beginning of 9th grade, became doodles, and soon the idea for Project Toon was set between the middle to end of 9th grade, with a heartfilled story similar to EarthBound/Mother.

Project Dragon

Sparked up around the same time as Project Dream, Project Dragon was thought of around 9th grade as simple sketches, with plans of a game in mind. The idea was inspired by Crash Bandicoot, and sketches of Shozi and the antagonist were done.

Project Dream

The idea came up around the same time as Project Dragon in 9th grade. The idea was inspired by Spyro the Dragon, and because of the inspirations for both, the 2 ideas were personally seen as sister games, just like Crash and Spyro. Sketches began with Zack and Anna around the time.

SCRAPPED IDEAS

Project Toy

1. A dragon was planned to be one of the 4 main cast. He was later changed to a woman who can shapeshift, then a man who can transform into a dragon. The character was finally decided to be a puppet master, Poppet.

Project Element

1. The game would originally take place in a monster filled world, similar to Pokemon. The monster and human would become partners if their auras matched, however the the concept was too similar to Pokemon, so it was scrapped completely.

2. Each character would have a monster as a partner. Bently would have a grass snake, for Vukan, a fire breathing komodo on it's hind legs, Calder would have a water shooting land otter/shark hybrid, and for Sorine, an electric snake.

3. Since the series was origially inspired by Pokemon, more specifically the Pokemon Adventures manga, there would've been multiple games, 4 in the first, 3 in the second through fourth, and 2 in the fifth. They would also have names like Green, Red, etc. The idea was exactly like Pokemon, so it was scrapped very early during conceptualizing.

4. Since the characters would've been like the Pokemon Adventures manga, Bently would've been named Green, Vukan would've been Red, and Sorine, Yellow. Calder was originally a female character named Blue.

5. The setting would've taken place in a tiny region called the Conosine Region. Bently and Vukan would've lived in a village in the far north in front of it's staple mountain, Sorine would've lived in a village east of the region near the meadows, and Calder would've lived in the far south, in a tiny island of coast of the region.

Project Toon

1. The party would consists of way more than 4 playable characters, 16-32 at least. The idea was soon realized to be too ambitious, so the idea was scrapped to just the main 4 heroes.

2. The game would've originally been 2 games, the first involving saving 8 areas from the Underworld's grasp in one region, which was Tundra and Vukan's home region, and the second saving 8 more areas in a different region, which was planned to be Jack and Hope's home region. This structure would be similar to EarthBound/Mother.

3. The game was planned to be etremely zany, but later decided the zaniness would toned down heavily, though it is planned to have a tad of zaniness here and there. This is to further focus on the characters in terms of their behavior, nature, backstory, and development.

Project Dragon

1. Ramana and the antagonist was originally planned to be related.

2. The antagonist would've originally have the treasure map. He would invite the citizens, specifically those from their school, to a party hosted at his manor. Shozi was invited due to Ramana's plea to the antagonist. He entered the party, and found the map the antagonist carelessly dropped, and was immediately hunted down for it.

3. The main cast woud've orginally been Shozi, Sanjo, and Shozi's younger brother, Zly, who was revised to a childhood friend, and was made older. Romana was originally planned to be in the sidelines in the main antagonist's manor.

Project Dream

1. The overall adventure would take place in the real world set as hub worlds, with portals to the Dream World set as levels all, located all over the land. Entering the real world would strip you from your dream weapons and abilities. The Dream World also looked liked the real world, instead of the planned wierd and mystical aesthetics and environment.

2. Another female character along with a dog was planned to be part of the main cast of characters. The female was scrapped, however the dog is planned to be a side character.

3. Zack's only weapon was originally just going to be the Dream Sword.

4. Anna role was more restricing. Being a princess, she was forced to stay at the castle, and sneak around to gather supplies and gateways to other hub worlds for Zack. She would also cheer him in boss fights by setting of fireworks at the castle as a way to cheer him on.
